Structure in cybed: terms
Counts
Each standard carries boundary-statement paragraphs and implementation examples, both promoted to cybed:Example nodes, which is most of the gap between the strict and with-examples counts. Practices, dispositions, progressions, and interdisciplinary connections are staged in the source JSON but not yet carried into the graph.
Provenance
Source
The JSON behind CSTA’s official interactive Standards Explorer for the 2026 PK-12 CS Standards, plus the standards PDF.
Ingestion
scripts/010-ingest-csta2026.R normalises the foundational and specialty tiers onto one (level, concept) unit scheme and parses the structure into the cybed schema.
License
Creative Commons BY-NC-SA 4.0, by the source PDF’s own licence page: attribution, non-commercial use, and share-alike for any derivation. The share-alike term propagates to any file containing CSTA-derived content. The package does not bundle the source. Users stage it locally.
Caveats
- csta-2026 is a framework of its own, not a revision of the 2017 edition. The two editions share no identifier scheme, and CSTA’s own crosswalk between them is many-to-many. Cross-version comparisons need the crosswalk, not identifier matching.
- The share-alike term is the strictest licence condition in the corpus. Any derivative work containing csta-2026-derived content must itself be shared under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.
- Foundational and specialty tiers use different grouping logic (concept/subconcept versus specialty area/subarea), normalised here onto one
csta2026:StandardGrouptype. Analyses that care about the distinction should filter on the source tier field.
